About this speaker

Brenda Cochran LCSW currently serves as the director of the counseling department & trauma-informed care at Pure Heart Church in Glendale Arizona. She partners with the church’s wellness department providing a “whole-person” therapeutic approach to engaging and transforming the whole person, taking into account spiritual, emotional, physical, and social factors in the treatment.  She provides oversight to a clinical team that specializes in trauma, addiction, and mental illness.


Brenda is actively involved in the Arizona Trauma-Informed Faith Community movement (AZTIFC).  She provides leadership for the West Valley region of AZTIFC. This effort supports the movement through building a stronger collaborative effort with churches in the West Valley by creating awareness, training and networking opportunities to mobilize and build resilient faith communities with trauma informed care. Her church is recognized as hosting the first trauma-informed faith community conference in the valley: “Building the Resilient Church” intended for pastors, chaplains, ministry leaders interested in helping the church respond more effectively to trauma, addiction, and mental illness in their churches.


She holds 2 degrees from Arizona State University, is a clinical supervisor and a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor through the American Association of Christian Counselors. She is trained through the Arizona Trauma Institute and is a level one Gottman trained therapist.
