The Grief of Loneliness, Disconnection, and Walking Away

A Talk by J.S. Park (Hospital chaplain & author)

About this Talk

Loneliness has neither an official diagnosis nor a treatment. It is almost embarrassing to admit, “I am lonely.” Many of us came face to face with loneliness through 1) the pandemic, 2) the political division after 2016 and 2020, 3) when racial injustice was dismissed, and 4) church abuse and abandonment. At times our disconnections were forced on us, and other times we needed to walk away. How do we deal with the mental health issue of loneliness, especially with so little discussion and resources around this pervasive struggle?
