Mental Health Ministry: The Struggle is Real
A Talk by Dr. Jared Pingleton (Minister & Psychologist, Independent Clinical Practice)
About this Talk
There is an unprecedented mental and relational health crisis sweeping the globe. People are hurting in overwhelming ways and in virtually epidemic numbers. Research consistently demonstrates that the vast majority of persons struggling with a mental health issue seek help first from a faith leader. Unfortunately, most church leaders do not have the time or training to successfully address these issues. Simply put, churches are filled with real people who have real problems and need real help.
This unique and innovative presentation is designed to inspire and activate pastors, Christian leaders, and churches to meet the real-world challenges of this epidemic. Based on the brand new book "Mental Health Ministry: The Struggle is Real" this program introduces a Biblically based and clinically proven collection of practical ways that Christian ministries can make a powerful difference for those experiencing mental and relational health difficulties.
Author Dr. Jared Pingleton is a dually trained and credentialled Clinical Psychologist and minister who is a nationally respected leader in the mental health field. This presentation is a helpful toolkit that educates, encourages, and equips those who serve hurting people to bring them help, healing, and hope. Several different models and methods of how to effectively address mental health issues are presented which have been found to successfully minister to human mental and relational problems across different countries and subcultures.
Faith leaders can pragmatically implement specific programs/interventions/principles discussed in the book in a ‘plug and play’ type of fashion, or borrow from several of the therapeutic concepts introduced to hybridize and customize a unique approach to meeting human needs applicable to their specific population and community
