Matthew S. Stanford, PhD is CEO of the Hope and Healing Center & Institute in Houston, TX and adjunct professor of psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine and the Houston Methodist Hospital’s Institute for Academic Medicine. His research on the role of faith communities in mental health care has been featured in such national publications as The New York Times, USA Today, and Christianity Today. A fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, he is the author of numerous research articles in psychology, psychiatry, and neuroscience as well as several books including his most recent, Madness and Grace: A Practical Guide for Pastoral Care and Serious Mental Illness.
