After working in ministry for over a decade, Avrey has found a gap between the church’s pastoral care services and the needs of the community. People are hurting and the church has a huge part to play. Although many churches desire to serve their community and meet their needs, Avrey has found that the gap increases due to a lack of education and awareness. She developed Sacred Roots with the desire to educate and equip churches with the tools they need to provide the appropriate levels of care to their employees, communities, and congregations. Avrey is a Board Certified Master Level Mental Health Coach with an emphasis in Crisis and Trauma. She is also a National Instructor for the Council of Mental Wellbeing where she provides businesses with training and certifications as civilian Mental Health First Aiders. During her time in ministry, Avrey has assisted and supported families as they grieved the loss of a loved one. Her greatest passion project was developing a mental health response team, fully made up of volunteers, to help assist church communities with crisis and trauma. She has coordinated hundreds funerals and helped develop long term followup programs for churches assisting their congregation. She is a military spouse, mom, and lover of all things that come from the garden.
